Our bed / maple wood platform bed
Matt and I invested a little more money in our bed because the quality of our sleep directly affects the quality of our waking life, including our mental sharpness, emotional balance, and physical vitality. Thus, we chose a very stable bed frame, which is a solid wood platform bed. We found a wood maker who sells beds that I like at an affordable price from an online shop at Etsy. I particularly asked him to make rectangular-shape nightstands(like the pictures) to match with the bed frame. I chose maple wood due to its durability and its own light brown color. After putting a memory foam mattress covered with linen sheets from MUJI on it, it looks cozy and homy. Vintage looking lights are from IKEA.
Finishing our dining table and benches.
We got them from Urbangreen run by home furnishing professionals based in Brooklyn. Luckily, they had a dining table that I liked in the clearance section. We could also save money by buying them unfinished and bringing them by a cargo van when I moved from New York. On a weekend, Matt and I finished our table and benches for the first time. It took almost five hours. It was pretty fun though. We used clear finish on them to have natural wood appearance.
